I’d like to introduce myself and my daughters Katherine and Elizabeth by sharing some of our own ‘midlife mummy’ experiences!
My Midlife Mummy Story
I gave birth to our eldest daughter Katherine when I was 29 years old. That’s not old by today’s standards, but back in 1970 I was regarded as a ‘late starter’!
When we took Katherine home from the hospital I felt the weight of the world was on my shoulders. I was absolutely terrified at the prospect of being responsible for keeping this little person alive, especially as I had no family support. When the community nurse arrived at the door a few days later I welcomed her like a long-lost relative and practically dragged her through the front door!
When Katherine was three years old I had an ectopic pregnancy. I nearly died and was left with just one tube.
Big Surprise … Huge!
Amazingly, in 1975 we had twins, a boy and a girl! Sam was a healthy 7lb baby, but Candice was behaving like a ‘prem’. She had to go straight into a Humidicrib in the Intensive Care Nursery which was so scary. Then I had a visit from her paediatrician …
“I’m Such A Failure As A Mother”!
He informed me that I would not be able to breastfeed my babies because (quote) “You don’t have enough milk for one baby let alone two.” I was utterly devastated! The minute he left the room I burst into floods of tears! The nurse had to call my obstetrician to come and see me and calm me down! I had carried the twins to term through the two hottest months of the year in Australia and I was totally exhausted. It was so frustrating because I could probably have supplied the entire hospital with breast milk when I had Katherine!
Four years later when I was 37, we had another daughter, Elizabeth. By now I was the most relaxed mother ever! Having one baby after twins is such a breeze, not to mention a massive relief!

Here on the website, our mission is to provide support to mamas who have had their babies in their mid-thirties onwards.
A key focus is health issues specific to midlife mamas, such as bringing hormones back into balance, regaining energy and addressing questions about perimenopause and menopause.

Katherine, my eldest daughter, is now 49 and had her first baby Kai last September (2019), just two days after her birthday! So exciting!
Kate’s partner works on the rigs, so he’s ‘one-month-on’ and ‘one-month-off’. This means that every second month Kate is a ‘single parent’.
It’s been tough, especially in the middle of COVID.
Kate is also going to share her weight loss journey with you.
Elizabeth is now 41 (2020) and she and her partner had their eldest daughter Chloe (here with Liz and above with me) when Liz was 37. Their second daughter Indiana was born two years later. Check them out on Insta @midlifemummies
So Liz is our first Midlife Mummy (mamas 35 years upwards!)
Liz is now starting her own online business, but she will be sharing her experience of using our amazing products with you on Instagram and in our Newsletter.
And as Mama to the Mamas, I do the behind-the-scenes stuff – working on social media, this website, photography, videos, babysitting!
